  1. In the south-west of Lanzarote is the famous El Golfo Crater, a volcanic lagoon filled with glowing green water caused by certain minerals in the area.
  2. Lanzarote’s carnival starts in Arrecife in February and offers a whole month of music, dancing, parades and fireworks.
  3. There are many natural places to explore in Lanzarote and the best way to find them is by bike. Most of the resorts have bike rental facilities.
  4. Las Cuevas de los Verdes (The Green Caves) were formed more than 3,000 years ago from an erupting volcano and can be explored with a helpful guide.
  5. In May is the Día de la Cruz festival when locals decorate their houses with crosses made of flowers, turning the whole island into a picture perfect bouquet.
  1. The Castillo de San Jose in Arrecife was built by a king in the 18th century and is now home to some incredible works of modern art.
