Cheapest flights to Spain

Spain is an exciting country with some of the finest architecture, food, culture and scenery in the world, and it's only a short hop from the UK. You can swap the grey streets of Britain for the excitement and colour of Spain in just a couple of hours, making it great for a short break. You can opt for a sophisticated city jaunt in Barcelona or Madrid, a classic beach holiday in Alicante or Malaga, or visit Ibiza for the party of your life. Whatever you're looking for, Spain has got it.

Northern Spain is heaven for art lovers. Bilbao boasts the Guggenheim Museum, which has been hailed as one of the most important buildings of the 20th century and houses an impressive permanent collection. Near to Reus (Link to: http://book.thomascookairlines.com/cheap-flights/to-Reus-Spain/) airport is Barcelona, which is stuffed with stunning places to visit, such as Gaudi's cathedral the Sagrada Familia, the Picasso Museum and the famous shopping street Las Ramblas. South of Barcelona are the islands of Majorca and Menorca, which are popular destinations all year round. Majorca offers sun, sea, mountains and sophisticated nightlife within a relatively small area, whilst Menorca is quieter and has many beautiful coastal paths, making it perfect for a walking holiday.

Wherever you go, you're guaranteed to find a warm welcome and some excellent entertainment. Flamenco music and dance is performed everywhere, but it's also worth finding out about any fiestas that might be happening during your visit, as these colourful events are definitely worth seeing. Be sure to visit a traditional Spanish tapas bar too, where each drink you buy comes with a free small plate of food. There's so much to enjoy in Spain, you'll certainly want to return.

Southern Spain has long been a favourite destination for sun seekers, and is well known for built up resorts such as Benidorm and Malaga. If you're looking for something a little less touristy and a little more cosmopolitan, try Alicante. This busy little town is handy for the airport, has a beautiful historic quarter and is known for its exciting nightlife. Further south is Almeria, a beautiful province sandwiched between the coastline and the Sierra Nevada Nature Park. Here you'll find Europe's only desert, the Tabernas, beautiful white-washed villages such as Mojácar and, of course, crystal clear seas and white, sandy beaches. Nearby is Granada, worth visiting primarily for the Alhambra, one of the world's architectural marvels, but also famous for its excellent tapas. Out of season even the Southern coast of Spain can be chilly, so if you want some guaranteed good weather, try Lanzarote. The capital Arrecife is a bustling, friendly city and a great base for exploring the stunning coastline of the island.
