  1. Mount Teide, the biggest volcano on Tenerife reaches to 3,718-metres (12,198 ft). Its summit is the highest point in Spain, making Tenerife the 10th highest island in the world.
  2. Mount Teide is active - its most recent eruption occurred in 1909. It has a history of destructive eruptions, yet it is very close to several large towns
  3. Teide’s popular national park, visited by 2.5 million people per year, is home to many invertebrate species, over 40% of which are endemic. 70 of these can only be found in the park.
  4. Tenerife is the most populated island in Spain, with 898,680 inhabitants. That’s 43% of the total population of all the Canary Islands. Over 5 million tourists visit Tenerife every year.
